Ancien Pinot Noir Carneros 2007 Carneros, California
Ancien Pinot Noir Carneros is our latest red wine gem from California! Ancien Wines are made by Ken and Teresa Bernards, who have made acclaimed wines for other producers prior to focusing on their own label, Ancien. They possess a passion for the Burgundian varietals, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with an emphasis on capturing the essence of terroir. This wine is sourced predominantly from the Toyon Farm, located on the eastern (Napa) side of Carneros, on a fan-shaped, southwest facing slope. Underneath the typical Carneros clay and alluvial soils are layers of shale, which add spicy notes to the darker, more brooding flavors and aromas of the wine. 1031 cases produced.
Ancien Pinot Noir is garnet red in color with an aromatic nose of cherries, cranberries, chocolate, cloves and spice. It has medium body and bright acidity with a velvety texture and flavors of black, brambly fruit, plum, ripe cherry and strawberry, spiced with cardamom and dark chocolate. The wine was aged in an array of French oak barrels, 50% new. The balanced structure of acidity and tannin will support the graceful aging of this wine for the next decade. The finish is long, rich and lingering.
Enjoy Ancien Pinot Noir Carneros with roast pork, grilled salmon, ratatouille and aged cheeses.
