Vineyard 48 Riesling 2009 North Fork of Long Island, New York
Vineyard 48 Riesling is a delightful white wine gem from the North Fork of Long Island. The North Fork's unofficial Route 48 wine trail is home to wineries like Roanoke Vineyards, Palmer Vineyard, Castello di Borghese and Shinn Estate Vineyards, a list of some of the region's best and most historic estates. Vineyard 48 has 28 acres of vineyards and is owned by the Metz, Lamanna and Bortone families. Winemaker is Matthew Berenz.
Vineyard 48 Riesling is soft amber in color with an exuberant nose of pears, apples, citrus and mineral notes. Light-medium in body with an appealing touch of sweetness, the wine is beautifully balanced with lively acidity. It offers rich flavors of pears, apricots and apples, with no oak. This wine is refreshing with a lingering, flavorful finish.
Enjoy Vineyard 48 Riesling over the next 2-3 years with pan-fried trout, baked Block Island swordfish, fried chicken, and spicy Thai dishes.
