Le Signal Cotes du Roussillon Villages Vieilles Vignes is an old-vines red wine gem from Roussillon, the sunniest wine region of France. Under the supervision of renowned winemaker Jean Vincent Ridon, Le Signal d'Agly produced in 2005 its first vintage of a very limited quantity of world-class wines from Roussillon, one of the world's oldest vineyards, dating to 600 BC. The Signal d'Agly vineyards are scattered around the mountains of Saint Paul de Fenouillet, just a few kilometers from Maury. The soil is mostly black schist and the vines are 80 years and older. Le Signal has been honored by La Revue du Vin de France in its selection of top wines of the year. Only 400 cases were produced.
Le Signal Cotes du Roussillon Villages is a red blend of Grenache, Syrah, Carignan and Mourvedre from the outstanding ripening vintage of 2005. It is dark cherry red in color with a gorgeous nose of plums, black currants, pepper and violets. Full-bodied with firm tannins, it offers intense flavors of cassis, kirsch and spice with boundless finesse. Well balanced to enjoy over the next 3-4 years, it is rich with lingering fruit on the finish.
Enjoy Le Signal Cotes du Roussillon Villages as an ideal accompaniment to lamb chops, steak, truffle omelette and ripe cheeses.
