Cruz de Piedra Blend is an absolutely gorgeous red wine gem from Mendoza, a blend of 60% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot. Let's call it a red Bordeaux blend with a little bit of Argentine tango! Bodega Cruz de Piedra is a family-owned winery founded in 1973 by Sigifredo Alonso in Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. Inspired by Napa Valley initiatives, Alonso was the first winemaker in Argentina to plant single-varietal vineyards. This wine received a Gold Medal at the International Wine Challenge. Winemakers are Daniel Ekkert and Esteban Castel. Only 400 cases produced.
Cruz de Piedra Blend is intense ruby red in color with an alluring nose of blackberries, cassis, spice and oak. It offers rich flavors of dark berries, chocolate and mint. Medium-full in body, it has a silky texture with soft tannins and a long, velvety finish. The wine was aged for 18 months in new French oak barrels. It can be enjoyed now and will continue to improve with age for another 6-8 years.
Enjoy Cruz de Piedra Blend with grilled steak, beef empanadas, roast pork and aged cheeses.
