Napa Valley, California
Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful expression of Napa Valley at a very affordable price. The first vintage of Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon (2003) was discovered by one of our favorite suppliers, Doug Polaner, on a trip to California, sourced from one of Napa Valley's long time "cult" producers. Doug found himself in Napa at the right time and was able to taste and buy a small lot of this top, top quality wine. Following the blow-out success of the first effort, Doug has continued to put together a stellar follow-up throughout the years. Only 1787 cases were produced.
The 2018 Hardin Cabernet is sourced from several regions within Napa including some valley floor and a bit of hillside fruit. The latest bottling is 72% Oakville and 28% Calistoga fruit. It's a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot, and 3% Malbec, aged in French oak (35% new) for 18 months. Hardin is a classic Napa Cabernet that reflects the quality of the 2018 vintage with deep, rich flavors and volume. Lots of dusty cassis, stone fruit and a sage/herb spice with beautiful layers and an underlying lift of freshness that carries the finish. The wine has a great texture with sturdy, but soft, tannins. This "crazy value" Napa Cab was sourced from a couple of top "Cult" wineries in the Valley (SHHH...their wines sell for between $75-150/bot!). Deep, rich and plush with classic Napa Cab fruit, it drinks like a wine costing 2-3 times as much!
Enjoy Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon with filet mignon, rack of lamb, steak, grilled vegetables and aged cheeses.
