Jean Perrier Apremont Savoie Cuvee Gastronomie is a delightful white wine gem from the Savoie wine region of southeastern France. Jean Perrier & Fils was founded in 1853. Gilbert Perrier and his son are the fifth and sixth generations to make wine in this picturesque Alpine region. As the domaine has slowly expanded, maintaining quality has always been the priority. Vineyard work is sustainable, grapes are hand-harvested and gently vinified in stainless steel tanks. The wines are classic, crisp, and pure Savoie in character. This new vintage has not yet been rated but the 2011 vintage was selected among the Wine Spectator Top 100 for 2012, ranking #55, with a rating of 91 points!
Jean Perrier Apremont Savoie Cuvee Gastronomie is 100% Jacquere, with stainless steel fermentation and aging. Kim Marcus for Wine Spectator described the 2011 vintage in glowing terms: "A structured, complex and intense-tasting white, with flavors of white cherry, quince, mineral, beeswax and hints of tarragon. A smoky essence runs through as well, which carries into the finish, with notes of dried basil."
Enjoy Jean Perrier Apremont over the next 7-8 years on the patio with friends or paired with roast chicken, grilled snapper, steamers, Cobb salad and goat cheese.
