100% Albariño, Lodi AVA
We met Luis Moya, wine importer and winemaker/owner of Urbanite Cellars, at our shop in October 2013 and tasted his delicious Caliberico white wines. Caliberico Blanco, now in its third release, has previously been a blended wine featuring a large proportion of Albarino. This year Luis made two monovarietal white versions, one with Albariño and the other with Verdelho. The Albarino comes from organic vineyards in Lodi, picked earlier than is common to maintain high levels of acidity. Fermented and aged for seven months in concrete egg tank - wild yeast. The intent is to produce a bright, refreshing wine in the style of Spanish wines from Galicia. Caliberico Albarino displays a mineral foundation with notes of grapefruit, Meyer lemon and green plum. The wine is bright, lively and refreshing.
Alcohol Content: 12.3% ABV
Vinification: Destemmed, crushed, pressed with fermentation using native yeast in 500L concrete egg, with seven months additional age on the lees.
Enjoy Caliberico Albarino with shellfish, grilled swordfish, baked scallops, roast chicken and paella.
