La Rioja, Argentina
Etcetera Torrontes is a delightful new white wine gem from La Rioja, Argentina. The Hinojosa family has a very long winemaking tradition in Mendoza. From the many vineyards the different branches of the family have planted over the years, brothers Diego and Pablo Stortini inherited 50 hectares under vine (some vines dating back almost 100 years) in the prime location of Vista Flores, Valle de Uco. Torrontes is a native Galician grape varietal now flourishing in Argentina that is quickly catching on in the American market as a refreshing white wine ideal for spring and summer. Torrontes can produce wines showing the aromatics of Muscat, the richness of Viognier and the crispness of Sauvignon Blanc.
Etcetera Torrontes is 100% Torrontes, all hand-picked from vineyards on sandy soils in a semi-arid high mountain climate at an elevation of 3600 feet. Fermentation is entirely in stainless steel tanks. The wine is yellow-gold in color with intense aromas of grapefruit, pear and rose petals. It is crisp and refreshing on the finish.
Enjoy Etcetera Torrontes over the next 3-4 years as an aperitif wine and an elegant complement to grilled scallops, broiled salmon, chicken empanadas, grilled asparagus and spicy foods.
