Piedmont, Italy

Marchesi Incisa Della Rocchetta Roero Arneis is a beautiful example of this varietal from the Piedmont region of northern Italy. Arneis is a white varietal indigenous to Piemonte, specifically from the Roero area, northwest of Alba. Over the last several years Arneis' popularity has grown enormously and since 2006 it has gained the DOCG appellation, the highest official quality ranking among Italian wines. It expresses an unrivaled fruitiness, a delicate freshness and mineral notes.

The origins of the Marchesi Incisa della Rochetta family date back to before the eleventh century. For centuries, the family has owned vineyards and produced its own wine. It is also well known for continuing scientific research and innovation in winemaking, with one family member, Mario Incisa della Rocchetta, a passionate winemaker and a true visionary, credited with creating Sassicaia, the first Super Tuscan wine. Since that time, the Marchesi Incisa family has produced wine within 2 estates--its historical one in Rocchetta Tanaro in Piemonte and the second in Bolgheri in Tuscany.

Marchesi Incisa Roero Arneis is straw yellow in color, full-bodied, dry and crisp with aromas of acacia, green apple and cedar. It offers rich flavors of stone fruit, cantaloupe, grapefruit and fresh almonds. The wine is well balanced to enjoy now and over the next 3-5 years. It is dry and smooth on the palate, and leaves a long, pleasing finish.

Enjoy Marchesi Incisa Della Rocchetta Roero Arneis with filet of sole, grilled chicken, pasta, BBQ, shellfish and dishes with sweet, spicy or buttery sauces.
