Castilla y Leon, Spain
Alaia Verdejo is a red Spanish wine gem of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from the Castilla y Leon region. The vineyards were farmed with no irrigation in soil of sandy loam with pebbles on the surface and clay several meters deep underneath. Alaia Cab is made to respect the typicity of Cabernet Sauvignon--a rich and aromatic wine with subtlety. Josh Raynolds for Steve Tanzer rated this vintage 87 points.
Alaia Cabernet Sauvignon is medium-full in body, ruby red with hints of blue on the rim. The nose is intense and fragrant, showing some ripe red and black berries as well as notes of vanilla, roasted coffee beans, cocoa and toffee. The palate is elegant with flavors of dark berries, cherries and cassis. It is dense yet balanced with a seamless wood integration and a rich, long finish.
Enjoy Alaia Cabernet Sauvignon over the next 2-3 years with steak, barbecue, paella, olives and cheeses.
