Gilbert Picq Chablis Vieilles Vignes is a beautiful white wine gem from this world-renowned appellation in Burgundy, showing off the natural beauty of the Chardonnay grape. The Domaine of Gilbert Picq et Ses Fils is one of the lovely, small, up-and-coming producers that dot the Chablisienne landscape. Located in the village of Chichée, just to the southeast of Chablis proper, the Picq family has cultivated its small parcels of vines for several generations, with father Gilbert now having handed over the reins to his two sons, Didier and Pascal, and his daughter Marilyn Picq. Vieilles Vignes is hand-harvested from three plots of vines that are all over 50 years old.
"The 2018 Chablis Vieilles Vignes is a blend of three parcels. Rich, powerful and bombastic, the 2018 offers notable depth and density in a boisterous style. Apricot, tangerine, passion fruit and marzipan develop with air, but the 2018 remains a bit rough around the edges; this dark, creamy wine is in need of further time in tank to truly come together."-- Antonio Galloni-Vinous, 89-91 points!
