Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone is an enticing red wine gem from the southern Rhone region of France. Louis Barruol's Chateau de Saint Cosme continues to be the reference point estate in Gigondas. In the family since 1490, the estate was built on a Gallo-Roman site near Gigondas. The Chapel of Saint Cosme looks down on its vineyards. This 2015 vintage has not yet been rated but Wine Spectator scored the 2014 vintage 90 points!
Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone red is traditionally 100% Syrah, unusual for the appellation. The wine is a deep plum with violet reflections. Aromas of smoked meat, wild raspberry and black pepper give way to a medium bodied palate with elegant flavors of black currant, blueberry and gingerbread.
Enjoy Saint Cosme Cotes du Rhone as an ideal accompaniment to lamb chops, skirt steak, spicy barbecue, grilled vegetables and aged cheeses.
