Wine Advocate 90 points 4 years in a row, vintages 2011-14!
Tilia Malbec is a beautiful, rich red from the Mendoza region of Argentina. Tilia is the Latin name for the Linden tree. The estate is owned by the Catena Family, and Tilia wines are made at Bodegas Esmeralda in the Eastern region of Mendoza. They are made by Leopoldo Kuschnaroff, winemaker and viticulturist in charge of all Catena family vineyards in Eastern Mendoza. The grapes for this Malbec were sourced from sustainably farmed vineyard sites in both the Eastern and Southern regions with elevations ranging from 2600 to 4300 feet above sea level. Luis Gutierrez for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate scored the 2014 vintage of this wine 90 points (fourth straight vintage!) calling it "one of the best values in Argentina."
Tilia Malbec offers aromas of black cherries and plums accompanied by notes of violets and vanilla. On the palate the wine is rich and full-bodied with flavors of juicy blackberries, cranberries, and black currants, followed by notes of vanilla and sweet spice. It was aged for 6-9 months in 225L oak barriques, 10% new.
Enjoy Tilia Malbec with veal chops, roast duck, creamy pastas and aged cheeses.
