Wine Advocate 91-93 points!
Lafage Lieu Dit Narassa is a gorgeous red wine gem from the Roussillon wine region of southwestern France. The wine's official appellation is Cotes du Roussillon AOP. Deep in this Catalan region of southwestern France, Domaine Lafage blends juicy, aromatic wines that deliver the rare combination of distinctiveness and affordability. Although only in his thirties, Jean-Marc Lafage already has over 15 years of world-class winemaking to his credit. The Lafage Estate covers 200 hectares near Perpignan, with spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees separating France and Spain. Jeb Dunnuck for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate rated this wine 91-93 points, saying "This hedonistic, downright sexy, ripe and layered beauty will drink nicely right out of the gate. I've raved time and time again about the quality - and value - coming from Domaine Lafage's Jean-Marc Lafage." We wholeheartedly agree!
Lafage Lieu Dit Narassa is 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah from 70-year-old vines planted in the black schist soils of Maury. Full-bodied, the wine is deep red in color with intense aromas and flavors of black raspberry, chocolate, olive and white pepper. Aged mostly in concrete tank (20% in demi-muids), it is long and polished on the finish.
Enjoy Lafage Lieu Dit Narassa over the next 5-6 years with roast pork, cassoulet, grilled lamb chops, burgers and goat cheese.
