Altosur Malbec is a beautiful, rich red estate grown and bottled at Finca Sophenia. The Tupungato Mountain in Mendoza rises to 6550 meters and is known as "a balcony to the stars." The Malbec grapes for this wine are grown in the foothills of Tupungato at an elevation of 1200 meters. As a tribute to this mountain, Finca Sophenia named this wine Altosur, meaning "high in the south." The Altosur wines show intense aromas and fruity yet complex flavors.
"The juicy and fresh 2017 Altosur Malbec has moderate alcohol and good acidity, a constant across the wines from Sophenia. This is always young and perfumed after a few months in contact with oak staves."-Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, 90 points!
Altosur Malbec offers aromas of intense ripe fruit: cherries, blackberries, blueberries, and fresh plums, combined with spicy and floral hints. In the mouth the sweet and round tannins increase its fruit sensation and balance. It is a wine of good intensity, rich concentration and long finish. Aged 3-4 months in French and American oak barrels.
Enjoy Altosur Malbec with veal chops, roast duck, creamy pastas and aged cheeses.
