Livia Fontana Barbera d'Alba Superiore is a beautiful expression of the Barbera grape from the appellation of Alba in Piedmont. Located deep in the heart of the Barolo appellation, in Castiglione Falletto, the Livia Fontana estate lies at the crossing of three hillcrests originating from the neighboring villages of La Morra, Barolo and Monforte. The Fontana family has been tending vines and pressing estate-grown grapes for over 150 years and 5 generations. Still family-owned today, the winery is run by Ettore and Livia Fontana.
Livia Fontana Barbera d'Alba Superiore is 100% Barbera from various vineyards in Castiglione Falletto and Monforte d'Alba / Barolo. Grapes from 20-30-year-old vines are 100% handpicked and fermented into red wine in stainless steel vats at controlled temperature with ambient yeasts; maceration lasts for 1 week. The wine ages for 8 months in French oak tonneaux. This beautiful red offers a delightful nose of red berries, cherries, violets and French oak. It is medium in body with perfect acidity, soft tannins, and a long finish.
Enjoy Livia Fontana Barbera d'Alba Superiore over the next 5-6 years with lasagna, veal Milanese and aged cheeses.
