Salvatore Molettieri Taurasi Vigna Cinque Querce is a beautiful red wine gem that takes the Aglianico grape to its very best.
Wine Advocate 94 points! "The 2006 Taurasi Vigna Cinque Querce is an utterly impeccable, brilliant wine. Vibrant dark cherries, flowers, and minerals all flow onto the palate with remarkable concentration. The proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove, the Taurasi Vigna Cinque Querce delivers incredible richness while retaining tons of clarity, inner perfume and harmony. This is a fabulous effort from Molettieri. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2026." --Antonio Galloni
Salvatore Molettieri, the talented owner of the estate, comes from an old farming family and manages his estate together with his son Giovanni, a trained oenologist. The first wine was bottled with the 1988 vintage and the vineyards now extend for twelve hectares in Montemarano, historically one of the two finest crus of the appellation, at 550 meters altitude. Perfect ripening here occurs in the first week of November, yielding a wine of powerful authority and concentration. Salvatore Molettieri produces Taurasi of a grandeur to rival the greatest wines of Piedmont and Tuscany. Today Salvatore's estate can be considered one of the finest in Italy.
