Llama Old Vine Blend from Belasco de Baquedano embodies the distinctive spirit of their vineyards, spanning the foothills of the Andes. Bringing together two of its most renowned varieties, Bonarda and Malbec, this blend boasts an elegant touch of violet, flavors of ripe strawberries, and soft, yet persistent, structure. Both Bonarda and Malbec are aged individually for six months in 3-year-old French oak barrels and then blended together to age for a minimum of six additional months in bottle. Cultivated from vines over 100 years old.
"Opaque color. Aromas and flavors of plums, cherry, and flowers with a lively, dryish full body and an appealing, long finish with well-integrated tannins and moderate oak. A superb full-bodied red with plenty of terroir, dark fruit flavors, kirsch notes, and well-integrated tannins; this could easily pass for a top end red Bordeaux."--tastings.com, 96 points!
