Clavelin Brut-Comté Crémant du Jura is a sparkling wine gem from Hubert Clavelin in the Jura region of France, nestled between Burgundy and Switzerland. Hubert Clavelin and his two sons have vineyards in the Côte du Jura, a small range of mountains about 30 miles to the east of the Côte D'Or in the province of the Franche-Comté. Within their holding they have a parcel of very high limestone soil that they have planted in Chardonnay and from this parcel they make their sparkling wine, Brut Comte. Their method is the same as champagne; the wine is fermented in the bottle and each bottle is hand-riddled. The care that they take is shown in the very fine quality of the Brut Comte - tasting more like a lesser, true champagne than a sparkling wine from Burgundy. This wine has received great press in The Wine Advocate and is a consistent prizewinner in France. It is ideal for parties, weddings and any celebration.
Clavelin Brut-Comté Crémant du Jura is light gold in color with abundant fine bubbles. It has an expressive bouquet of citrus, flowers and white fruits followed by rich flavors of ripe stone fruits and pastry. 100% Chardonnay, entirely hand-harvested. Whole clusters are gently pressed. Following natural alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, a second fermentation is done in bottle to produce CO2; méthode champenoise. Aged 24 months on hand-riddled slats. Bottled with Swiss corks. This delightful sparkling wine has a long, pleasing finish.
Enjoy Clavelin Brut-Comté Crémant du Jura as the perfect aperitif and with every course of a meal, including desserts.
