The Prisoner Blindfold is a must-try white wine gem for anyone who loves Chardonnay or rich white blends! The Prisoner label was sold in 2009 by gifted winemaker Dave Phinney of Orin Swift Cellars to its new owner, The Prisoner Wine Company. With more than a decade of winemaking experience at Ravenswood crafting Zinfandel, Jen Beloz was the ideal person to take the lead. In order to remain true to the wine's original style and vision, Jen worked alongside Dave Phinney, founder of The Prisoner, for the first two vintages. In 2012, she took the lead and seamlessly blended the wines across the entire portfolio, which now includes Blindfold.
The Prisoner Blindfold is a complex white blend with inviting aromas of honeysuckle, grilled white peach and apricot. A luscious entry of toasted hazelnut and mandarin is balanced by bright acidity and minerality. The finish is rich and creamy with flavors of lemon zest and caramelized sugar.
Robert Parker rated this vintage of Blindfold 89 points: "The 2014 Proprietary White Blindfold is a cross-AVA blend of Chardonnay, Viognier, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc and Marsanne as well as a touch of Semillon. This wine is gorgeous, with oodles of rose petal, honeysuckle, melon and white peach notes in the aromatics and flavors. It is medium-bodied, quite complex, and best drunk over the next 1-2 years."-Robert Parker, Wine Advocate, 89 points!
