Zekor Garnacha is a beautiful red wine gem made from old-vine mountain Garnacha by Bodegas San Martin in the Navarra region of Spain. Winemaker Barbara Palacios is one of the new, young rising stars from La Rioja. She is continuing a great family tradition following in the footsteps of her famous uncles Alvaro Palacios from L´Ermita and Rafael Palacios from As Sortes. During her studies at BTSA in Blanquefort (Bordeaux) she had the opportunity of working in some of the most legendary wineries around the world; Château Margaux and Château Pichon Longueville Baron in France, Robert Mondavi in the US and Cascabel Winery in Australia. She brought all her knowledge and experiences back to Rioja, highlighting the importance of winegrowing and the quality of the grape.
Garnacha is the flagship grape here, and the focus is to bring all the expressions of the grape out; not just showcasing its fruity flavors but the freshness and unique flavors that depict the land where it’s grown. Yields are low here and the vines are not irrigated, resulting in high quality grapes which produce intensely flavored and complex wines. Intense dark fruit, mountain herbs and violet aroma display all the character of the Garnacha grape. Well balanced with distinctive floral hints. Aged for 3 months in American oak.
Enjoy Zekor Garnacha over the next 4-5 years with grilled steak, paella, and aged cheeses.
