Elgin, South Africa
Lothian Vineyards Vineyard Selection Riesling is a beautiful white wine gem from Elgin, just 45 miles southeast of Cape Town. In its opulent setting on the banks of the Palmiet River and a private lake in the Elgin Valley, Lothian Vineyards shines in a class of its own. It is situated in the Kogelberg, the world's richest and most diverse biosphere with more than 1800 plant species, of which over 70 are found nowhere else on the planet. Years of searching for the perfect location finally revealed Elgin's cool-climate terroir as an elegant setting for growing grapes to produce exceptional Riesling.
Lothian Vineyards Riesling was allowed extended lees contact to add textural depth and was bottled after light filtration to preserve the integrity of the wine. It is pale yellow in color with green hues. The aroma is most redolent of green mango, nectarines and lychees. The palate shows great length and finesse with a vibrancy of perfumed fruits such as guava and sweet peach, overlaid with a touch of white cherry, sorbet and clove. The balance of the wine is succulent and mouth-watering and invites a second glass.
Enjoy Lothian Vineyards Riesling with shellfish, grilled chicken, pan-fried trout, ratatouille and soft cheeses.
