Chablis, Burgundy, France
Isabelle & Denis Pommier Petit Chablis is an excellent introduction to this world-renowned appellation in Burgundy, showing off the natural beauty of the Chardonnay grape. The estate of Isabelle and Denis Pommier was founded in 1990 when the Pommiers decided to take over 2 ha of their family's land to produce their own wine. The estate now spans 16 ha of vineyards with appellations ranging from Petit Chablis all the way up to three Chablis premiers crus. The winery is fully organic.
Isabelle & Denis Pommier Petit Chablis is made from a blend of parcels in the villages of Lignorelles and Villy. The combination of limestone and kimmeridgien soils produces a wine that is both fruity and minerally, and is meant to be consumed young. It was aged on the lees in tank for 6 months. Medium-full in body with crisp acidity, the wine offers flavors of apples, citrus and spice, with no oak. It is well balanced and ready to be enjoyed now and over the next 4-5 years. The wine has nice length and complexity on the finish.
Enjoy Isabelle & Denis Pommier Petit Chablis with grilled sausages, roast chicken, grilled halibut, lobster salad and cheeses.
