100% Bobal. Certified organic. Toni Sarrion champions the variety Bobal, working on clonal selections and strict vineyard management for smaller and looser clusters. Finca Terrerazo is from two plots planted in 1945 and 1970 on dolamite limestone soil with chalky sand at 800m. The plots are vinified separately with indigenous yeasts and undergo malolactic in 225L French oak with batonnage. The final blend spends 21 months in French oak.
Deep black cherry color with aromas of blackberries, cassis, violets and spice. This medium to full-bodied wines has well intergrated tannins that provide a stong structure for the deep black and blue fruit flavors which dance with spice and smoke.
"It is pure Bobal, the flagship red grape from this part of Valencia close to Requena, from the estate vineyards that have their own appellation of origin. The vines are dry farmed and were planted between 1945 and 1970 on very poor soils. The destemmed and crushed grapes fermented in 3,500- and 5,000-liter oak vats with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matured in oak vats and barriques for 20 months. There is more freshness than the 2012, and it has a velvety texture, without the rusticity many wines from Bobal show.."--Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, 92 points!
