Franschhoek, South Africa

Holden Manz wine estate is located above the Franschhoek valley overlooked by magnificent mountains which stand guard over the beautiful valley below. Situated between the Franschhoek & Stony Brook rivers, this 22-hectare wine estate, with its fertile and dark loam soils, produces superb wines in a state-of-the-art cellar.
Showing subtle aromatics of spice and pepper notes, with enchanting black fruit on the nose, this dark, ruby red wine is well balanced with great volume. Rich and elegant red fruit with dark berry nuances dance on the palate, while a long finish hints of mocha and further spice. Wood is well integrated, resulting in pleasantly subtle tannins.
"Now, here is exactly how to make a great Cabernet Franc. The 2013 Cabernet Franc is probably the best of its kind outside Bruwer Raats. It captures the essence of the grape variety on the nose, which is extremely well defined with hints of bell pepper and bay leaf that complement that black fruit. Whereas often the palate of South African Cabernet Franc can be overpowering, this is beautifully balanced, fresh and clean, and delineated with slight pepper, black and red fruit that are very focused. I have to confess that I sampled this at home and then drank the rest over dinner. It just got better and better. So bravo - this is an exemplary Cabernet Franc. The only downside is that only 784 bottles were produced."-Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, 93 points!
