Feudo Montoni Nero d'Avola Lagnusa is a beautiful red wine gem from Sicily. Nero d'Avola is the most important red wine grape in Sicily and it is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties. Revered wine critic and writer Antonio Galloni thinks very highly of Feudo Montoni: "Feudo Montoni is one of Italy's best but still relatively little-known estates. In fact, despite boasting a lineup of great wines and having been around for some time, Feudo Montoni (the winery is housed in a villa that dates back to 1469) does not enjoy the fame and visibility of Sicily's many larger wineries. I have no doubt that this will all change soon enough, because there are few estates anywhere in Italy making more compelling wines today."
"Bright red-ruby. Perfumed nose of violets and plum. Then silky tannins nicely frame the ripe, suave red and blue fruit flavors which showcase lovely inner-mouth perfume. Closes very long with outstanding delineation, delightful acid-fruit-tannin balance, and penetrating violet nuances. A knockout Vigna Lagnusa, one of the best vintages of this wine ever."-Vinous, 94 points!
