Copain Pinot Noir Les Voisins is a beautiful wine gem of Pinot Noir from the Anderson Valley of Mendocino. Perched on a hillside overlooking the bucolic Russian River Valley, Copain specializes in vineyard designate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. "Les Voisins" is French for "the neighbors." Copain's Les Voisins wines are derived from closely clustered, neighboring vineyards, offering a nuanced and tightly focused reflection of Anderson Valley and Yorkville Highlands. Winemaker and General Manager for Copain is Ryan Zepaltas.
"Leading off the Pinot Noirs, the 2016 Les Voisins saw a malo in barrel followed by aging in 19% new French oak. This light ruby-colored effort has a terrific perfume of spiced cherries, dried flowers, and wild strawberries. It's fresh, lively, medium-bodied, and elegant on the palate, with a charming, albeit slightly short style. Nevertheless, I love its complexity and balance."-Jeb Dunnuck, June/2018, 90 points!
"Pale to medium ruby, the 2016 Pinot Noir Les Voisins, aged 16 months in 10% new French oak, opens with aromas of stewed black tea leaves, crushed red cherries, fresh cranberries, orange peel, forest floor and damp earth. Light to medium-bodied, it's bright and fresh in the mouth with a great balance of fresh fruit and earth character, framed with soft, grainy tannins and finishing long."
