Gulfi Nerojbleo is a beautiful red wine gem of Nero d'Avola from Sicily. Nero d'Avola is the most important red wine grape in Sicily and it is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties. "Our objective is to preserve our land so as to pass on what our forefathers left us: over 2000 years of history, culture and hard work so that we can hand over to our sons and daughters an integral land, that is immense in its beauty and richness." Grapes from organic farming.
"The Catania family harvests this nero d'Avola from several vineyards near their estate in the Vittoria zone. Here in the foothills of the Iblei Mountains, Gulfi's albarello-trained vines grow in lighter soils and at higher elevations (more than 1,300 feet) than their Pachino vineyards, and the wines reflect those differences in their more lifted aromas and buoyant flavors. The 2013 Nerojbleo offers flavors of fresh plum and warmed cherry carried on a zipline of acidity. The wine picks up notes of anise and pink peppercorn as the flavors expand, remaining vibrant through a long and harmonious finish."-Wine & Spirits, 94 points! (on the 2013 vintage)
"Deep ruby. Perfumed and juicy, offering sweet candied blueberry pie, sweet spices and faded flowers on the nose and in the mouth. Very smooth texture and clean, ripe flavors have pretty floral lift and vibrancy. A knockout NeroJbleo, one of the best in years, in fact."-Vinous, 94 points! (on the 2013 vintage)
