Domaine Alary Cotes du Rhone La Gerbaude is a gorgeous red wine gem of Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan. The Alary family's involvement in viticulture and wine production dates back as far as 1692, to the reign of Louis XIV. Tradition, passion and 'savoir faire' are key elements to tendering vines and maturing wines and the acquired experience has been passed on from one generation to the next. In all, 10 generations have successively played their part in building this edifice, guided by a healthy respect for nature and for the general environment. Proof of this conviction can be found in a later stage in the development of the vineyard with Denis' decision in 2009 to convert to organic farming. La Gerbaude is from the region's "terroir garrigues" (terraces of scrubland, limestone and clay soils covered with pebbles). Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted in the vineyard and also before entering the cellar.
" The 2017 Cotes du Rhone la Gerbaude is a solid, well-made blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 10% Carignan. Earth and tart cherries meet on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is framed by supple tannins and crisp acids. It should drink well for 5-6 years."
