Domaine Alary Cairanne L'Estevenas is a gorgeous red wine gem of Grenache and Syrah from the southern Rhone. The Alary family's involvement in viticulture and wine production dates back as far as 1692, to the reign of Louis XIV. Tradition, passion and 'savoir faire' are key elements to tendering vines and maturing wines and the acquired experience has been passed on from one generation to the next. In all, 10 generations have successively played their part in building this edifice, guided by a healthy respect for nature and for the general environment. Proof of this conviction can be found in a later stage in the development of the vineyard with Denis' decision in 2009 to convert to organic farming. From a south-facing old mountainside of blue/white clay-limestone soil, grapes for L'Estevenas are hand-harvested separately at their optimum maturity.
"I absolutely adored the 2016 Cairanne L'Estevenas, a 50-50 blend of Grenache and Syrah that contains one of the oldest parcels of Syrah planted in the Southern Rhône. It offers complex aromas of cracked pepper, licorice, blueberries and black olives on the nose and is full-bodied, rich and profound on the palate, adding notes of black cherries on the silky, seductively long finish. Less than 700 cases were produced." Drink 2018-2028-Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, 95 points!
