K Vintners The Boy Grenache is a gorgeous red wine gem from the Powerline Vineyard in the beautiful Walla Walla Valley of Washington State. Located at the base of the Blue Mountains in Walla Walla, Charles Smith opened his first winery, K Vintners, in December of 2001. The first release, 1999 K Syrah from Walla Walla Valley, initiated the style of winemaking that Charles continues today: small lots of single vineyard Syrahs and field blends of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Tempranillo, and Viognier, all of which are hand-picked, fermented with naturally occurring yeasts and basket pressed.
"In the running for the best Grenache from Washington, the 2016 Grenache The Boy Powerline Vineyard is a single vineyard release from a site in the Walla Walla Valley and was brought up in neutral oak. It has a Rayas-like perfume of rose petals, black raspberries, cherries, spice, and smoked meat. This carries to a medium to fullbodied, thrilling textured, seamless Grenache that has a stacked mid-palate, no hard edges, and a great, great finish. Hats off to the team at K Vintners for this incredible Grenache."-Jeb Dunnuck, 97 points!
"With sweet spiced cherries that fill the glass, the 2016 The Boy is open and enjoyable now, showing cinnamon and dusty licorice on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, the wine has a balanced structure on the palate with a soft sweetness to counter the tannins and acidity. It ends with a lingering finish of confectionary sugar and dusty Twizzlers. 1,138 cases produced. Drink 2019-2028."-Anthony Mueller, Wine Advocate, 93 points!
