Borsao Cabriola is a beautiful new blend of 55% Garnacha, 39% Syrah, and 6% Mazuelo, hailed by many of the world's wine critics as an awesome value. We consider this wine one of the top gems of Spanish wine. The grapes come from vineyards that are between 35 and 40 years old. Located on uneven terrain at an altitude of 600 to 700 meters, these vineyards yield under four and a half tons of grapes per hectare, affording superb richness and concentration in the wine.
"The new impressive red blend 2016 Cabriola mixes Garnacha with Syrah and a touch of Cariñena (Mazuelo), and despite its 15.5% alcohol, it feels harmonious and balanced in an XL way. It comes in a heavy Burgundy bottle, closed with a quality cork, and it all feels like a more expensive wine. It has a modern profile, but the oak is neatly integrated and folded into the fruit that is ripe and juicy. The tannins are fine and the flavors focused. The price feels too good to be true (if it retails in Spain for €11). They produced 96,000 bottles that were filled after 12 months in oak barrels. Drink 2020-2023."-Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate 91 points!
