Krasis Red is a beautiful introduction to one of the many intriguing red varietals of Greece. Mavrodafni is the most famous indigenous Achaean red grape variety. The winery, Sant'Or, cultivates organically in its estate-owned vineyards in Santameri. Achaia. This richly flavorful dry red is vinified with wild yeasts and minimal intervention. Eric Asimov's wine column in the New York Times cited Krasis Mavrodafni among 12 favorite Greek reds in February 2021! The wine is certified organic, biodynamic, and vegan.
Krasis Red is 100% Mavrodafni. It is wild fermented in old French oak barrels, aged for 6 months, unfiltered and unfined. Dark red with dark fruit, herbs and barnyard notes on the nose, with powerful but smooth tannins, medium acidity, and a characteristic bitter aftertaste. Rich in fruity and herbal aromas, it offers a velvety mouthfeel and the characteristic spicy aftertaste of the varietal.
Enjoy Sant'Or Krasis Mavrodafni over the next 4-5 years with souvlaki, burgers, lamb and yellow cheeses.
