Napa Valley, California

Forman Chardonnay is a beautiful non-malolactic Chardonnay from the Star Vineyard located on the Rutherford Bench. Ric Forman is one of California's most iconic wine figures and has been making wine in Napa Valley since his first vintage in 1966. Ric honed his craft at Stoney Hill (where he created the first non-malo Chard in California), Sterling and Newton before purchasing land at the base of Howell Mtn in St. Helena in 1978.
Forman Chardonnay is whole-cluster pressed and 100% barrel fermented. Sur lie for 7 months-stirring for 4 months. Malolactic inhibited. Sur lees aging in older barrels gives the wine a touch of richness and complexity to the aromas. Very sexy freshness beautifully frames the fruitiness. A classic Forman Chardonnay.
"The 2019 Chardonnay is compelling. In this vintage, the Chardonnay balances natural richness from aging on the lees with a touch of new oak (20%) with the energy that is the result of picking early and also blocking the malolactic fermentation. Lemon confit, marzipan, tangerine oil and white flowers all open up as this super-expressive Chardonnay shows off its character. Best of all, the 2019 can be enjoyed upon release. It is an incredibly delicious and rewarding wine to drink today."-Vinous, 94 points!
