Vinos Sin-Ley GRA is 100% Graciano from the Rioja region of Spain. While the typical Rioja red features the Tempranillo varietal supported by Garnacha, Mazuelo (Carignan) and the rare Graciano, winemaker David Sampredo has taken a bold approach with this Rioja with 100% Graciano grapes from the southern part of Rioja, in the town of Alfaro. The risk has paid off in spades for this beautiful red wine gem!
Vinos Sin-Ley was created in 2003 by Emili Esteve from Catalonya, and Manuel Martinez from Madrid. In 2005 additional winemakers joined the group, presenting new cuvees that offer novelty and value to the market. Vinos Sin-Ley translates to "Wines Without Law." The twofold objective of Vinos Sin-Ley is to create "new wines" that are value oriented. The result is fresh fruit-driven flavors that are different from those achieved in the past. Composed of a group of young winemakers from many different regions in Spain, the wines crafted at Vinos Sin-Ley are value-oriented, driven by experimentation and innovative insight. Our US importer is the young and energetic Patrick Mata, owner of Olé Imports of New Rochelle, NY. Bravo!
Vinos Sin-Ley GRA is dark purple in color with a perfumed nose of black raspberry, black cherry, red currant and spice. It is medium-full in body with firm tannins, solid acidity and expressive ripe fruit showing supple, silky texture. The wine was aged in stainless steel tanks with no oak, allowing the fruit its full expression. On the finish, it is long and complex.
Enjoy Vinos Sin-Ley GRA over the next 8-10 years with roast lamb, steak, grilled vegetables and aged cheeses.
