Les Garrigues Cotes du Rhone is a beautiful red wine from the southern Rhone of France offering one of our best values from anywhere in the world. This blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre comes from the southern Rhone valley, one of the most appealing wine regions of the world with its picturesque villages dotting a landscape of rolling hillside vineyards. The southern Rhone region features the Grenache varietal and includes the well-known appellations of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras along with Cotes du Rhone. The region has enjoyed a stunning run of superb vintages over the past 15 years back to 1998 with the single aberration of 2002 (severe flooding,) with every other vintage except 2008 rated 90 points or higher by Wine Advocate. The 2010 vintage was rated 97 points! This is a true red wine gem from a great vintage!
Les Garrigues Cotes du Rhone is deep ruby red in color with a gorgeous nose of jammy black raspberry, cherry, cassis, herbs and spice. Its name comes from the French word for the underbrush of wild herbs and spices ubiquitous in the south of France. Medium-full in body with moderate tannins, it is well balanced to enjoy over the next 5-6 years. It is rich and lingering on the finish.
Enjoy Les Garrigues Cotes du Rhone as an ideal accompaniment to lamb chops, skirt steak, burgers and grilled vegetables.
