Ardevol Anjoli Priorat 2009 Priorat, Spain
Ardevol Anjoli is a wonderful introduction to the prestigious Priorat region of Spain. The Ardevol family has been growing vines in the village of Porrera since the 13th century. Anjoli is the name of the adopted daughter of Rose Galceran, one of the partners of Celler Ardevol. This 2009 release received 90-point ratings from both Jay Miller for Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and Wine Spectator!
Ardevol Anjoli is light ruby red in color with a nose of fresh berries, licorice and tobacco. It is soft on the palate with medium-full-body and fine, well integrated tannins, offering rich flavors of plum and blackberries. Anjoli is a blend of 40% Garnacha, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 20% Merlot. The wine was fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks before aging for 16 months in French oak barrels. It is well balanced with a long, lingering finish.
Enjoy Ardevol Anjoli over the next 8-10 years with roast lamb, steak, grilled vegetables and aged cheeses.
